VOICE 1156, in collaboration with thegluenetwork.com, Etnies, and Flexfit, proudly presents Love Requires Action, a
group show that features an 8’ x 32’ mural created by more than a dozen artists at the Etnies GVR (Goofy Versus Regular)
event. The mural will be auctioned off at the VOICE 1156 opening reception on Friday, November 3rd, 2006. The proceeds
raised will benefit the Keep A Breast Foundation and
StandUp For Kids.
Additional artwork by many of the mural artists
will also be available for purchase. The artists who contributed their time and talent to the mural and the Love Requires Action
campaign are Steve Caballero, Andy Howell, Mike Kershnar, Oscar Cortez, Russ Pope,
Mike Maxwell, Ed Templeton, Donny Miller, Johnny Rodriguez, Hagop “Hago” Najarian,
Kelsey Brookes, Rick Maderis, Daniel Chang, Lance Mountain, Chris Pastras, and Kelli Murray.
“What else is love but understanding and rejoicing in the fact that another person lives, acts, and experiences otherwise
than we do…?” - Friedrich Nietzsche (1844 – 1900). Nietzsche’s definition of love encompasses not just the actual emotion
of being in love, but also uncovers the truth that love requires an active consideration and appreciation of diversity. In
short, love requires action. The juxtaposition of the mural and the individual works by each artist allows viewers to gain
insight into the unique talents of each artist and also understand their shared message on the importance of taking action
to make a difference.
The “Love Requires Action” mural project was presented by
thegluenetwork.com, an organization whose aim is to “bring people together to make a difference.” The purpose of
thegluenetwork.com is to create a community of purpose-driven
individuals with a passion for sharing their time, talents, and resources to benefit the lives of others.
